Corset AIGRETTE
THE OGIRIN
Aigrette was the word for three things at once: the egret, the plume it grows only while nesting and the ornament made from it. At the turn of the century an ounce of those plumes was worth more than an ounce of gold, and four birds died for it. What ended the trade was not legislation but a tea party — Didsbury, 1889, where Emily Williamson asked her friends to sign a pledge to wear no feathers, and Boston, 1896, where Harriet Hemenway did the same. The Paris feather ateliers that survived the collapse survived by learning a second craft: the embroidered silk flower. This corset carries both.
THE MOTIF
A made-to-measure red silk corset with black feather epaulettes, appliquéd silk flowers in graded reds and hand jet beadwork, with matching collar. Named for the aigrette — the plume that outlived its own trade.

How to Measure
Bust
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, keeping it level across your back and parallel to the floor. The tape should be snug but not compressing—you should be able to slide two fingers underneath.
Natural Waist
Find the narrowest point of your torso—usually 2–3 cm above your navel. Bend gently to one side: the crease that forms is your natural waist. Wrap the tape around this point.
Hips
Stand with your feet together. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips and seat—typically 18–23 cm below your natural waist. Keep the tape parallel to the floor.
